Appointed Person Course
Effective from 1st October 2009
Description
Where an employer’s assessment of First Aid needs identifies that a First Aider or Emergency First Aider is not necessary, the minimum requirement on an employer is to appoint a person to take charge of the First Aid arrangements, including looking after equipment and facilities and calling the emergency services when required.
Duration
2 hours of theoretical training with no practical training.
Syllabus
A range of subjects is covered including:
- Legislation
- Equipment and facilities
- Responsibilities
- Accident Reporting
- Risk Assessment of First Aid needs
Certification
A certificate of attendance is issued to all those who attend.
Please note it should be remembered that an Appointed Person is not a first aider and a full and detailed risk assessment should be carried out prior to selecting what course your company needs.
This training is aimed at medium and small companies with less than 50 staff and have a low risk level but require the need for trained first aid knowledge and due to a risk assessment feel that a more detailed course is not needed.
