First Aid for Schools and Colleges
CSLA (Community Sports Leaders Award)
Description
Unit 2 within the CSLA syllabus is a mandatory First Aid module which must be taught by a recognised Health and Safety Executive (HSE) training provider.
Duration
4 hours (can be split into 2 sessions)
Syllabus
a. Understand the role of the first aider.
b. Communicate effectively and manage an incident.
c. Look after yourself and the casualty.
d. Assess the situation and the circumstances in order to act safely, promptly and effectively in an emergency.
e. Administer cardio-pulmonary resuscitation (CPR) promptly and effectively.
f. Administer First Aid safely, promptly and effectively to a casualty who:
• is choking
• is bleeding
• is in shock.
g. Administer First Aid safely, promptly and effectively to an unconscious casualty.
h. Provide appropriate first aid for minor injuries.
i. Report accidents in the appropriate manner.
Certification
Assessment is ongoing by the instructor and a certificate of attendance is issued to those who meet the criteria.
